ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The University of New Mexico men’s basketball team secured an outstanding 81–76 victory over San Diego State, despite trailing by 11 points in the first half. The thrilling matchup took place in front of a sold-out crowd at “The Pit – Powered by Nusenda.”
The Lobos evened the season series with the Aztecs, improving to 22–7 overall and 13–5 in Mountain West Conference play. Tomislav Buljan, an exceptional Croatian basketball player, was the key factor in the win, delivering an impressive performance with 24 points and 18 rebounds. This marked his 12th double-double of the season, tying the University of New Mexico (UNM) freshman record previously set by JT Toppin with 12 double-doubles during the 2023–24 season.
Additionally, Buljan became the first player to record 24 points and 18 rebounds in a Mountain West game since 2022. The last player to achieve such numbers was Graham Ike of Wyoming, who posted 25 points and 18 rebounds against San Jose State. Buljan is also the first Lobo to reach those figures in a Mountain West game since Drew Gordon, who recorded 27 points and 20 rebounds against UNLV in 2012.
