Spring is here. You can see it all around us. Everything is growing, blooming, and renewing itself, while the air is filled with pleasant scents that remind us brighter days have arrived. We wear long sleeves only in the morning, then switch to short ones later in the day. For those who didn’t notice, May 1st—International Workers’ Day—probably made it clear.
All sports enthusiasts and fans of a healthy lifestyle will encourage people to go outside, exercise, play basketball, walk, or hike. However, people are entitled to other activities as well. One of them is video games. If it’s raining outside—which is often the case in spring—one of the best ways to have fun is playing video games on a PC or PlayStation. Below is our selection of games with a spring vibe or atmosphere.
“Uncharted”
One of the best gaming franchises of all time is Uncharted (“Neistraženo”), created by Naughty Dog back in 2007. So far, five installments have been released. The series conquered the world with its sense of adventure, action, and excitement. It blends Hollywood-style cinematic action scenes with top-tier graphics, believable characters, and dynamic, witty storytelling.
The main character, Nathan Drake (controlled from a third-person perspective), won over audiences with his mix of charisma, humor, and humanity. The story takes place in exotic locations such as South American jungles, Middle Eastern deserts, the Himalayas, and hidden ancient ruins and lost cities around the world.
Although the story spans all seasons, its adventurous atmosphere, unexplored locations, and spirit of discovery feel distinctly spring-like. A large part of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End (considered by many the best installment) takes place in late spring conditions on tropical Madagascar, with lush nature, warm colors, and open spaces that evoke freshness and life. The Uncharted series is worth playing because it sparks imagination and inspires real-life путешеvanja.
“Eastshade”
Developer Eastshade Studios released Eastshade in 2019, and it quickly captivated audiences. This is a first-person exploration game where players take on the role of a traveling painter exploring a peaceful island in order to fulfill the final wish of their late mother by painting its key locations.
Along the way, players meet inhabitants, solve their problems, and uncover incredible stories, secrets, and beauty through art. The game features anthropomorphic animals—such as a bear, deer, owl, and monkey—that speak and behave like humans. The story takes place in spring.
The game became highly popular because it immerses players in a fascinating open world without the threat of dangerous enemies. Often described as a “walking simulator,” it allows players to focus on interaction, painting, crafting, and exploration. Its stunning landscapes radiate a true spring atmosphere, making it ideal for those who live in cities and cannot easily explore nature.
“Outer Wilds”
Developed by Mobius Digital and published by Annapurna Interactive in 2019, Outer Wilds has since become a cult classic. The story follows a curious astronaut from a small spacefaring civilization who wakes up in a solar system trapped in a 22-minute time loop that resets every time the star collapses.
By exploring dynamic planets and uncovering traces of a long-lost civilization, players gradually piece together the mystery of the universe, the nature of the loop, and their own role in this endless cosmic cycle.
The game gained popularity due to its mysterious exploration, time-based challenge, and progression based purely on knowledge gained by the player. While it doesn’t literally take place in spring, it can be considered a “spring game” because it conveys a sense of discovery and new beginnings. It is perfect for fans of space exploration.
“The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild”
Nintendo delivered a masterpiece in 2017 with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, a standout entry in the legendary franchise that began in 1986. The story follows Link, who awakens after a hundred years to save the kingdom of Hyrule and Princess Zelda from the destructive force known as Calamity Ganon.
As players explore the open world, Link gradually regains his memories, frees powerful allies, and prepares for the final battle to restore balance.
The game is captivating because it gives players immense freedom to explore and solve challenges in their own way. Nothing feels forced. The experience constantly rewards curiosity and discovery. Players can use fire, wind, electricity, and water creatively to solve puzzles or defeat enemies. The game embodies the spirit of spring through its lush environments, greenery, and a powerful sense of freedom.
“Unravel”
Electronic Arts released Unravel in 2016, developed by Swedish studio Coldwood Interactive, and it proved to be a great success. This is a charming puzzle-platformer in which players control Yarny, a small anthropomorphic creature made of red yarn, traveling through natural landscapes of Northern Europe.
Through solving physics-based puzzles and experiencing emotional scenes, the game tells a quiet story about memories, family, and connection. Its emotional depth and beautiful visuals are its strongest elements. The game is infused with a spring spirit through themes of growth, renewal, and reconnecting, all set in vibrant environments inspired by Swedish seasons.
Taking all these titles into account (and there are many more worth mentioning), it’s clear that there’s plenty to play during the spring season. It’s the perfect time for relaxation and entertainment in the world of video games. Rain or sudden drops in temperature don’t have to be a bad thing—gaming offers a world of enjoyment. You just need to know what to choose.
